Conservatives continue to wage war on our nation's most vulnerable, all for cheap political gain.

While we try to shame our nation's poor, I'm curious to know how much social programs actually cost taxpayers. According to Examiner.com's Lou Colagiovanni, in 2012, a married person with one child making $50,000 per year paid just over $36 in taxes for "food and nutrition assistance" programs -- this equals out to just 10 cents per day!

On the other hand, the average US family pays a staggering $6,000 each year in subsidies to big business. To find out exactly where the $6,000 is going, read the story here.

Ronald Reagan created the offensive & ignorant term "welfare queen" back in the 70s. The truth is, these "queens" are corporations like Walmart. Walmart & the Walton family collectively profit from nearly $7.8 billion per year in federal subsidies and tax breaks.

Meanwhile, Walmart pays such low wages, its employees go on welfare.
