Atlantic tropical storm Ian traveled towards the U.S., then veered off to the NE. This has become a common pattern the last few years. But the water was warm enough and the winds not too disruptive so Ian has reached Iceland.http://icelandreview.com/news/2016/09/17/weather-warning-southeast-iceland

The Icelandic Met Office has issued a heavy rain warning for Southeast Iceland today. The culprit is tropical storm Ian, whose remnants are crossing the country. Wind won’t be much of a problem. It could reach up to 15 meters/second in the east, but less elsewhere. There is a storm raging, however, on the ocean east of the country.
