We are all heroes and villains

Just finished reading "The Girl in the Blue Coat" by Monica Hesse, a historical novel set in the Nazi occupation of Holland during WWII. The final section, ending notes, ends with

"I wanted to illustrate the split-second decisions we make of moral courage and cowardice, and how we are all heroes and villains."
