Problem for pollsters

Nov. 12, 2020

I have been seeing and hearing discussions about why more people voted for Trump than pollsters predicted, although he did lose the popular vote.  They opined that they had not been able to contact a representative sample.  My family is conservative, and I have lived in a conservative region most of my life, so have known many conservatives as coworkers.  My experience is that they tend to not be truthful, and they can enjoy making others upset.  My father told me that when a pollster called him, he told him he was voting the opposite of what he planned, and my father was obviously enjoyed having lied to the pollster.

Finally today, in an interview on NPR, someone said that he knew several conservatives who stated that they lied to pollsters, saying they were going to vote for Biden when they planned to vote for Trump, and that they enjoyed messing with the pollsters.

Since Trump is such a big liar, it would not be a surprise if people who like him would also be liars.
