A fourth body has been found at a North Carolina campground that was inundated by floodwaters.

"I've been in law enforcement for 41 years and this (death and destruction) is the worst I have ever seen," Alexander County Sheriff Chris Bowman told the Charlotte Observer.

Flooding on Thursday covered some recreational vehicles with water and swept others away at the campground in the Alexander County community of Hiddenite, about an hour north of Charlotte. The body, that of an adult male, was found around 11:30 a.m. Friday, according to a news release from the county. A 37-member urban search and rescue team was still looking for a 1-year-old child who remained missing.

What was Tropical Storm Eta helped fuel the rainfall. Moisture from Eta surged northward while a cold front moved through the Eastern states, according to weather.com meteorologist Chris Dolce. This collision has resulted in a widespread area of rainfall across the East since Wednesday. Some of the most intense rainfall and worst flooding occurred from Virginia into North Carolina, especially on Thursday.
