Peace is up to us

When I heard President Obama on the radio saying people don't see what we can do to avoid things like the mass shooting in San Bernardino, my first thought was that we could reduce such things if we chose to act in a more caring way to each other, but that humans are too irrational and agressive for that.

Then I remembered that not all places are the same. I know that from personal experience of living, working, & driving in different places, and statistically, people in different areas have different ways of thinking. And within my own lifetime, I have seen changes in the south, where I have lived since 1960, for the better, with far less racial attitudes of Caucasians towards African-Americans.

And there are other countries that have progessed in the direction of peace.
So it is not impossible.

When we make unkind remarks to each other, we are helping to block a more peaceful society.
