This is an interactive site. You can enter your own income to see the number of years it would take you to earn one year's pay for each of the CEO's shown.
Hourly wage calculations assume a 40-hour work week
See the link below for more examples.
And remember that there are CEOs in other states that make much more than those in Georgia.
Assuming you start working when you turn 21 and stop just before your 65th birthday, we calculate how many working lifetimes it would take to earn the equivalent of just one year's take-home pay for the chief executive officers of Georgia's top publically-traded companies.
We use CEOs' "realizable pay," which includes the before-tax value of all the cash, perks and company stock that a CEO gains ownership of during a year.
The median family income in the Atlanta metro is $50,000 a year. Minimum wage is $7.25 an hour, or $15,080 annually.
If you earned an average of $50,000 a year, or $24.04 an hour during your working lifetime, It would take this many lifetimes to match the annual pay of these Georgia CEOs:
William Nuti NCR Corp.
Pay in 2012: $40,894,671.00, or $19,660.90 hourly
20 lifetimes
John F. Brock Coca Cola Enterprises
Pay in 2012: $39,779,112.00, or $19,124.57 hourly
19 lifetimes
Francis S. Blake Home Depot
Pay in 2011: $22,099,928, or $10,624.97 hourly
11 lifetimes
