When will we ever learn

I'm sorry for the people in Oklahoma and other states who are getting hit with tornadoes, but note that Oklahoma and other states in this are are heavily Republican, electing politicians who block efforts to reverse global warming, which is causing an increase in severe weather. Just 9 days before, Oklahoma was hit with a tornado more than a mile wide. Global warming is not just a future threat. It is a current threat to us.

A friend on Facebook objected to my comment at this time.
My reply: If you talk about such things when everything is going well, people don't pay attention. People forget about things very quickly. This is the only time when it will be real to them. This is about minimizing catastrophe.

Officials in three Midwestern states worked to assess damage and launch clean-up efforts the day after a series of tornadoes and violent storms struck Friday evening, killing at least nine people and triggering mass flooding.

Extensive flooding hampered the emergency response in Oklahoma on Saturday, particularly in the Oklahoma City area, where at least five tornadoes touched down Friday evening.
