ScienceDaily (Oct. 18, 2012) — People with both hay fever and asthma -- but not people with only one of these two conditions -- experienced an approximately 17 percent lower risk for dying from colorectal cancer, according to data presented at the 11th Annual AACR International Conference on Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research, held in Anaheim, Calif., Oct. 16-19, 2012.

"Having both of these conditions could indicate that you are more likely to develop allergy-related immune responses that lower your risk for developing fatal colorectal cancer," said Eric Jacobs, Ph.D., strategic director of pharmacoepidemiology at the American Cancer Society.
