Bumble Bee Foods announced it is voluntarily recalling over 31,000 cases of canned Chunk Light tuna due to spoilage concerns.
In a statement, the company said it was made aware that "process deviations" occurred at a packing facility not owned or operated by Bumble Bee Foods.
Although no illnesses have been reported, "these deviations were part of the commercial sterilization process and could result in contamination by spoilage organisms or pathogens, which could lead to life-threatening illness if consumed," the company stated.
The products include 5-ounce cans of Chunk Light Tuna in Water (sold individually or in 4-packs) and 5-ounce cans of Chunk Light Tuna in Oil.
The affected items were produced in February 2016 and distributed nationally. The recalled products have three specific UPC codes -- 8660000020, 8660000021, and 8660000736 -- and are marked with a can code that starts with a "T."
They have the following "best by" dates:

A complete list can also be found on Bumble Bee's website. The company notes that the recall is being initiated "out of an abundance of caution" and that it is working with the FDA to remove the products from store shelves.
