We need a nicer culture to reduce violence

The radio was going on and on about what to call the shootings that just happened, hate crimes, domestic terrorism, as if that would make any difference in the results, or the changes of them happening again. We need to have a more nurturing, less hateful culture for our young people to grow up in.

And advocating for the death penalty is brainless, since most of the people who perform such acts are planning to be killed by the police; it just encourages hatefulness and the feeling that killing others is ok, the last thing we need.

Note that the U.S. is almost the only industrialized nation that still has the death penalty, and also has one of the higher rates of violence.
