Trump calls for another round of tax cuts, further reductions to corporate tax rate

The Congressional Budget Office and other nonpartisan analyses project the tax law passed in December will add more than $1 trillion to the deficit over the next decade.
Wages have generally continued to increase at the same pace they were rising before the legislation was passed. There has also not been a noticeable uptick in capital investment, compared with other countries, though a number of firms have announced immense stock buybacks that immediately benefit shareholders.
Public opinion polls show the majority of Americans still view the tax cuts relatively negatively, with many believing the wealthy and corporations are the biggest recipients of the benefits.

House Republicans released a budget proposal Tuesday that would balance in nine years – but only by making large cuts to entitlement programs, including Medicare and Social Security, that President Donald Trump has vowed not to touch.

A biographer of President Trump hit back at Trump’s tweet touting himself as the author of “many best selling books,” saying that ghostwriters had written all of the president’s books.
“President Trump didn’t write any of his books. Ghostwriters on all of them,” author Tim O’Brien tweeted Tuesday.
Trump is credited as the author of more than a dozen books. Almost all of them acknowledge the use of a ghostwriter or co-author.

The stocks of the two biggest private prison operators -- CoreCivic (formerly know as Corrections Corp. of America) and Geo Group -- have doubled since election day. CoreCivic (CXW) is up 140% since Trump won in November; Geo Group (GEO) has risen 98%.
