Two tropical cyclones strike Yemen within about a week

Global warming has caused the air to contain more water vapor, with the resulting in more instances and severity of severe weather, including flooding.

Note that global warming is expected to result in more very strong hurricane/cyclones, because of the extra energy from the higher heat.

The second tropical cyclone to strike Yemen within about a week left 14 people dead and inflicted extensive damage to the remote Yemini island of Socotra.

Cyclone Megh followed nearly the same path as Chapala, which killed 11 the week before.

Yemen had never before been hit by even a single cyclone during its recorded history. [30 years]

Cyclone Megh also left dozens injured and caused “widespread destruction of residents' homes and fishermen's equipment and on farms and livestock," the country’s fisheries minister Fahd Kafayen said on social media.

The much weaker Cyclone Megh quickly followed Chapala, which also dumped nearly a decade’s worth of average rainfall in just two days.
