ScienceDaily (Apr. 1, 2011) — New research suggests that infection with a probiotic strain of E. coli bacteria could help treat an reduce the negative effects of another E. coli infection that may be associated with Crohn's disease. Researchrs from the University of Auckland, New Zealand publish their results in the April 2011 issue of the journal Applied and Environmental Microbiology.

Hi. I'm a gastroenterologist in the DC area who has a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease. It's true, probiotics have become a more prominent tool in our treatment regimens for mild to moderate colitis. The one I use most often is a combination called VSL#3. Ask you doctor about this.
