NOAA weather report

Listening to the NOAA weather channel on the radio this evening, for the first time I heard them give normal temperatures and record highs and lows for the date and when they happened. Are they doing this in areas that are not getting a cold snap, like Atlanta? I would say this is a good thing, if it weren't for the timing. I will be looking to see if this is permanent feature, including the more frequent times when temperatures are above normal. I noticed that they gave the number of heating and cooling degree days for the month and year, but didn't give comparison data for them. If course, they would show increased warming.
