Practice compassion
People are criticizing those who do comply with evacuation orders. Some people can't afford cars. Some can't afford enough gas to get out of danger. Some have cars in such bad shape they would be in danger of breaking down on the highway, and we know how dangerous that can be. Some are handicapped and can't drive. There are babies in incubators, elderly in nursing homes, sick people in hospitals.
And we live in a culture that tells people they should be able to do anything they want if they have positive thinking, faith, enough effort. If you attempt to be in touch with reality, you are criticized.
Let us try to resist the pressures in our culture to see others in terms of competitors to be constantly criticized.
A Facebook friend in Florida is reporting that she can't leave because she can't get gas.
