Republicans try to block auto safety

Also, Republicans on the supreme court have already made it harder to bring class action suits.

From economist Robert Reich's Facebook:

Today’s New York Times’ lead story focuses on how the auto industry has recalled more cars than ever before and is intensely focused on neglected safety issues. But the article fails to mention the biggest reason why: class action lawsuits, including one against General Motors demanding more than $10 billion for ignition-switch defects that have claimed at least 29 lives. Why didn't the Times acknowledge this, especially since the Republican-controlled Congress is committed to making it harder to file such class actions in the future?
